Announcing New UH CISO

It is with great excitement that we announce the appointment of Sven Hahues as the new Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) for the University of Houston-System (UHS) and the University of Houston's UIT Security department. After an extensive 6-month search, Sven Hahues was selected to lead our information security initiative.

Sven HahuesHaving served as CISO and Deputy CIO at Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) since 2021, Sven Hahues brings over 15 years of expertise in cybersecurity, networking, and strategic leadership. Demonstrated by years of experience in project management, team development, and implementation of advanced security measures and technologies, his leadership at FGCU perfectly aligns with the goals and mission of the University of Houston.

Among Sven Hahues achievements is his leadership in staff security awareness training and transformation of protocols such as Single Sign-On (SSO) and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), significantly reducing compromised accounts and optimizing overall security. Certified as Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), and much more, Sven Hahues vision for an integrated risk management approach and a focus on institutional risk management will strengthen our commitment to excellence in information security.
